Hello my name is Don Gunter. I have had Macular Degeneration for about twelve years and it is getting worse as time goes by.
I am 80 years old and I love electronics, especially my computer. I have been using magnifying glasses to view my 23" flat screen monitor. They have been working fairly well, however I can no longer read a book or newspaper. I started doing some research on the Internet and found all kinds of reading devices ranging in price from $1,200 to $5,000 dollars. I found that this was not affordable for many and that Medicare did not cover the expense for such devices. There were few affordable solutions for the visually impaired.
Being retired from the electronics industry, I decided to create an affordable solution for all those in need. After much effort and research, I came up with a tiny handheld color video camera at an affordable price ($399.00) named the MagCam. Simply slide it over a newspaper, book, magazine or photos and view magnified images on your TV or computer screen.
